It was the final step in the completion of the new Madison County correctional complex. Inmates have been transferred into the new minimum-security facility. During the past 18 months, the county opened a new work release center for men & women, a new dispatch center and Emergency Management Agency facility in the 100 block of Jackson Street. The Herald Bulletin reports that Madison County borrowed $1.6 million for the construction of the facility through a five-year loan with an annual payment of $320,000.
