Retired Ball State prof facing civil suit, criminal charges for child molestation

An 80-year-old retired Ball State University professor set to go on trial for child molesting in September is being sued by the alleged victim and another in a civil suit. Melvin Sharp is facing 30 years in prison if convicted of assaulting a 7-year-old boy over the next five years. That alleged victim and a woman are suing Sharp for abuse. A hearing on the civil case hasn’t yet been scheduled.
