WMUN Local News Summary for 12/01/25

Meteorological Fall ended yesterday, based on the calendar months. Astronomical Fall ends on December 21, with the winter solstice.

As posted on our WoofBoomNews.com over the weekend, a quick burst of snow that began mid to late morning Saturday in East Central Indiana caused roads to get bad, fast.  As of 1:45 pm that day: Jeff Stanley, Chief Deputy for Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, 5 personal injury crashes and 36 property damage crashes within Delaware County.  Grant County Sheriff’s department posted about midday that “I-69 in Grant County is rough right now, and conditions are getting worse by the hour” – about 15 vehicles piled in near Gas City at one point.   By Sunday morning, roads improved – but a couple of churches decided to close, just be safe about refreezing.

WTHR apologized for a TV mistake – during the Friday live broadcast of the Circle of Lights, there was a technical issue that ran a commercial during the flipping of the switch.

Sounds like a Seinfeld episode: a U.S. Postal Service worker in Bloomington, Michelle Crabtree, is facing over 30 criminal charges for allegedly stealing more than a thousand pieces of mail. The investigation began after a relative discovered opened packages and mail in trash bags. Detectives recovered the stolen mail, along with checks, cash, gift cards, and even drugs.

Sports, on local Radio: our WMUN has Pacers tonight at 6:30pm, and a special Wednesday BSU double header: Ball State Women’s Basketball at 10:30am, and the Men at 7:30pm. FM, AM and Alexa: say Play WMUN.

The amount of snow varied greatly from far Northern Indiana as you looked South – Paul Poteet said yesterday that a family member in Huntington IN got 10 inches of snow Saturday. Lafayette got up to 8 inches. About 3-4 in some parts of east central Indiana.  National Weather Service Indianapolis said that in Kokomo 6.5 inches. was measured by the EMA.  A weather spotter said Madison county’s Country Club Heights got 2.8 inches.

Depending on who you ask, that weekend forecast was either accurate – or not.  Social media was blowing up with complaints about inaccuracies and poorly treated roads, while some TV weather people were showing maps of predictions vs. snowfall totals, stating they were dead on.
