Errington to Step Aside as Indiana State Rep

State Representative Sue Errington Will Not Run for Reelection for Indiana House District 34.
Muncie, IN December 31, 2025. “It has been my honor and joy to represent the people of Indiana House District 34 for the past thirteen years. I have been asked when I will step down – some hoping it will be soon, others hoping it will be in the distant future. Today I’m announcing that 2026 will be my last year in the Indiana General Assembly and that I will not file to run for reelection in 2026. It’s time to pass the torch to someone else with similar Hoosier values and passion to serve the public. Over the years I’ve championed issues including affordable reproductive health care, the preservation of the environment and our natural resources, equal pay, improvement of the law on sexual assault, strong public schools, universal pre-K, and affordable childcare. I’m especially proud of my public safety bill the governor signed into law last session that provides life-saving medical information to first responders at the scene of an accident. But beyond work on legislation, I’ve found that one of the most satisfying aspects of being a state legislator is helping constituents overcome bureaucratic barriers to services.
The recent wrong-headed attempt to bully the Republican supermajority to redraw Indiana’s congressional district maps for political gain in mid-decade has deepened my belief that one-party rule is bad for Democrats, bad for Republicans, and bad for Hoosiers. Indiana has had nearly 20 years of one-party rule. We don’t need another Republican in the Indiana House of Representatives. With these thoughts in mind, I’ve been seeking someone who I believe will uphold these values and represent the residents of District 34 with integrity and care. I have found that person. Today I’m endorsing Muncie City Councilwoman Sara Gullion to run to be the next state representative for
House District 34, and I am proud to serve as her campaign chairperson.”
