Fire At CANPACK Manufacturing Plant

Area fire companies turned out for a blaze inside the CANPACK manufacturing plant at about midnight Wednesday. The Star Press reports the fire was located at the center of the 862,000-square-foot factory, which has yet to go into production. The plant will produce beverage cans after manufacturing starts. Production was to start Jan. 10. It’s unknown if that date will change due to the fire. It began near an area where welding was taking place.
