53 years behind bars for a former Jay County sheriff’s deputy sentenced for a murder conviction. The Star Press reports 36 year old Roger L. Boyd Jr. was found guilty in the September 2020 shooting death of James P. Miller, a 49-year-old Montpelier resident. Boyd told authorities he shot Miller in self defense after finding the Blackford County man in his garage. Video surveillance showed the men entering the garage together.
