The Muncie Police Merit Commission has announced creation of a diversity task force aimed at helping the city police department “in hiring and promoting from a larger pool of diverse applicants.” Officials say the goal behind the panel will be to promote hiring of people with diverse backgrounds, such as those from the African-American community, LGBTQ community, women and religious minorities.
