Mayor Thomas Broderick has announced the return and expansion ofthe summer concert series for 2020.Two additional concerts have been added to this year’s line up and the serieswill run until October 2. The series proved to be one of thecity’s most popular Parks Departmentevents with several thousand peopleattending the concerts throughout thespring and summer months. The 2020City of Anderson Summer concert serieswill again be held in the Dickmann TownCenter and is free to everyone.Concerts will include some of thearea’s most popular musical group.Award winning artists Cook & Belle willkick off the series with their powerfulmix of country, soul, 60s, 70s and gospel. In addition, Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. recently made the hopes andwishes of 43 local educators become a reality by visiting them topresent checks for innovative classroom projects through theMayor’s Grants for Teachers Program. Now beginning its fifthyear, the funds are raised through private donations and the annual Mayor’s Ball in order to provide materials, field trips and other educational opportunities to students within Anderson. Teachers submit their ideas through the grant application process in October and November. The program is open to any educator who teaches in any school within the Anderson city limits. This year’s awards ranged from $2,000 to $380.
