The Lapel Town Council has voted to increase the amount of local funding for an upgrade to the water system, hoping to secure a state grant. The local funding dedicated for the project has been bumped to $250,000 in hopes of securing a $600,000 grant to rehabilitate the Ford Street Well; make improvements to the water tower; and replace water lines.
