A spike strip helped stop a driver fleeing from police on Ind. 3 north of Muncie at speeds of more than 120 miles per hour. Police say they first clocked 41 year old David Abbott of doing 77 in a 50 and began a pursuit at which time the driver gunned it. The Star Press reports Delaware County sheriff’s deputies had set up “spike strips” at Ind. 3’s intersection with Royerton Road, and Abbott drove over them, at which point his tires started to fall apart.
