New Laws Go Into Effect Today
After being signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb, new laws go into effect today. SEA 2 involves school bus safety. The law increases the penalty for passing a school bus with an extended arm to a Class A Misdemeanor. The penalty is enhanced to a Level 6 Felony for causing bodily injury, or for causing death. HEA 1192 involves theft by public servants. The new law allows an employer to be reimbursed from a public servant’s pension fund if the public servant is convicted of theft of public funds.
