Excessive Heat Today; Here’s How To Keep Your Cool

A warning about today’s expected blast of hot summer weather: Temperatures over the next few days will be in the upper 90s, with a heat index reaching 105 to 110. And with the excessive heat your vehicle’s interior can reach lethal temperatures, quicker than you may realize. Keep kids and pets out of the car and someplace cool today. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch, which is effective from 2 o’clock this afternoon through Sunday. The combination of high humidity and hot temperatures could create the possibility of heat illness. Cooling centers include: All 7 Muncie fire stations and City Hall, the Anderson Public Library, the Christian Center in Anderson, Community Hospital and St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.
