Plans will move forward on a new jail in Delaware County after council members approved what’s called the “build operate transfer” agreement this week. A large crowd at a meeting that saw the measure approved in a 4 to 3 vote with Ron Quakenbush, Mary Chambers and Scott Alexander voting against it.
The commissioners have said that this agreement will be a fixed price, with none of the cost overruns that plagued the original justice center project’s price tag 27 years ago as it ballooned $63 million.
