National Notes:

Week five of the partial government shutdown. On Saturday, President Trump said in exchange for border wall funding, he would extend protections for undocumented immigrants.

A TSA spokesman says they’re in “uncharted territory” as the number of workforce call-outs increases. The TSA says 8 percent of all of its workers did not show up for work on Saturday, the highest since the shutdown began.

His lawyer Rudy Giuliani says “As far as I know President Trump did not have discussions with” Michael Cohen before he spoke to Congress. Giuliani insists his client never ordered his former lawyer to lie about negotiations to develop a Trump Tower in Moscow.

A winter storm that dumped on parts of the Midwest swooped into the Northeast and on its heels is dangerously cold lows. Temps in North Carolina were plunging from the 60s to the teens.
