Madison County Judge Thomas Newman Jr. is spending his last few days on the bench. With his retirement coming January 1, Newman has been the longest-serving judge in Indiana. Before being elected in 1976, Newman worked for U.S. Sen. Birch Bayh and was an attorney in the Indiana General Assembly.
