Audit Show Late Payments Cost $9,000

A 2016 audit of Madison County found the auditor’s office paid penalties and interest for failing to remit Indiana withholding taxes on time. The Herald Bulletin reports that the county paid nearly 9-thousand dollars for being late with the payments. At the time, Democrat Jane Lyons was the Madison County auditor. She lost a re-election bid to Republican Rick Gardner.
