A fire in the attic of a soughside home killed a Muncie man early Wednesday. Police say 33 year old Gary Smith pushed his wife out a window to save her but did not follow and died in the blaze at 712 West Fifth Street. Neighbors tell the Star Press they believed there were between 8 and 11 people staying in that home at the time. No word on a cause.
