The City of Alexandria has been presented with the 2018 Excellence in Affordable Housing Award for The Mercantile, a low-income and senior housing community in downtown Alexandria. Three years in the works, The Mercantile, which opened earlier this year, is home to Horner’s Midtown Market and 26 housing units.
