A four-year legislative fight for a state insect that has been championed by elementary school students has taken a big step forward in the Indiana Statehouse. The bill for the Say’s firefly to become the state insect was unanimously passed by the Senate’s public policy committee on Tuesday. Previous efforts in both the House and the Senate haven’t made it out of committee hearings.
