A hearing is set for Thursday during which the Indiana Senate Appropriations Committee will encourage dialogue on the bill to give Ball State University control of Muncie Community Schools. Along with allowing BSU to govern the school district using a newly appointed seven-member school board, the bill allows the State Board of Finance to make an interest-free loan to the distric and removes the label of fiscally distressed from the district.
