A Jay County hunter is recuperating from a fractured vertebra in his lower back after he tree stand broke. Indiana Conservation Officers say 48-year-old Gary Michael fell about 30 feet after both straps on his deer stand snapped while hunting near the Jay County town of Pennville. Officers say Michael was not wearing a safety harness.
