A Blackford County woman has been ordered to begin serving her sentence today. A state appeals court has upheld the sentence of 29-year-old Doralee Burress, the mother of a son who suffered severe injuries during the first weeks of his life. The Montpelier woman was allowed to be free on bail pending a ruling on her appeal. In June 2016, Burress was given a maximum 30-month sentence after pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent. The child’s father pleaded guilty to the same charge and received the same sentence.
