It turned out to be a very expensive sponge. And it cost Community Hospital Anderson 300-thousand dollars. A Madison County woman has been awarded that figure after the sponge was left inside her during a 2007 surgery leaving her unable to work. She underwent a second surgery to remove it in 2010.
