Last night was the first face-to-face meeting of the state’s Distressed Unit Appeals Board and members of the Muncie Community Schools board. The public meeting, held at the Muncie Area Career Center, was to discuss the state supervision of “financially-troubled” MCS. In addition to the two boards, the Muncie Teachers Association, state lawmakers representing Muncie, and Mayor Dennis Tyler were in attendance. Members of the board say they plan to name a state-funded emergency manager by July 1.
