The Alexandria Police Department’s K9 unit has been sidelined for at least two weeks. This comes after the city’s Board of Works & Safety tabled an emergency request from the Chief to replace the unit’s patrol vehicle. The dog will have to stay home; his handler will be placed on other duties. A special meeting has been set for May 15 while the city figures out a way to pay for a new vehicle.
