While Indiana lawmakers are debating the future of offering pre-kindergarten opportunities, Sen. Joe Donnelly says the program should be available to every child. The pre-kindergarten pilot program in five Indiana counties was started in 2014. The Indiana House wanted to double the funding to $10 million and expand the program to 10 counties. The Indiana Senate cut funding for the program from $5 million to $3, which means the final details will be hammered out in a conference committee.
