Overriding Two Pence Vetoes

The last unfinished business of Mike Pence’s governorship is complete, and the result is two new laws: The Senate completed the override of two Pence vetoes. One bill gives legislators the right to review any new state environmental rules if they’re stricter than federal requirements. The other requires private university police departments to make arrest reports public — other records remain private. Pence argued the bill reduced transparency — legislators contend it increases it.
