For the first time in three years, the state is auditing the city of Muncie’s books. City Controller Audrey Jones says the state’s oversight of city financials, which has been cut back in recent years, is welcome. The Star Press reported in May that due to a smaller workforce, State Board of Accounts auditors hadn’t audited local governments since 2013. The state’s audit of the city is projected to take until January.
