The former CEO of Indianapolis-based American Senior Communities, James Burkhart, and four other company executives were taken in to custody Wednesday and are now facing several federal charges, including Medicare fraud, and for swindling the company of millions of dollars. American Senior Communities operates Waters Edge Village in Muncie and Edgewater Woods in Anderson.
