A New Castle man serving a 118-year prison term for two murder convictions has failed in his latest bid to win a new trial. 44-year-old Kenneth D. Alvies fatally shot James D. Davis and Donnie R. Nickerson, in Davis’ South Sixth Street home in 2000. Alvies was convicted and later received a 59-year sentence for each conviction.
