Jumpin’ Johnny Wilson, state champ teams get their just desserts

Another legend being honored for contributions to sports. Local legend Jumpin’ Johnny Wilson will be honored at Anderson High School along with this year’s state championship basketball teams Liberty Christian and Lapel on July 24th. Wilson played in 1946 and led the Anderson High School boys to their state championship that year. He set records that stand today at what was then Anderson College and has earned his master’s degree from IU and an honorary doctorate from Anderson University. A bronze sculpture of Wilson was unveiled in front of the High School in May. The events begin on the 24th at 12:30 with the main ceremony at 3 p.m.
