Muncie woman who beat her boyfriend’s daughter with the belt two years ago has been placed on probation. 39-year-old Elgenia Bennett pleaded guilty last October to bodily injury to a person under the age of 14. She could’ve spent 18 months in prison. The judge told the woman in court that he made his decision to suspend her prison sentence because she admitted what she did was wrong to him. She’s taking parenting classes and sought counseling for herself and the victim, according to the judge.
