A Muncie woman who gave her mother an injection of a powerful painkiller has been sentenced to four years in prison today. The woman, 32-year-old Amanda Kay Pratt pleaded guilty last December to reckless homicide. Her mother, Penny Kerr died last February of an overdose of Diluadid. Pratt said she was trying to help her mother, whom she said was addicted to painkillers for chronic pain. The judge sentenced Pratt to the max under the plea agreement, and said she can request a sentence modification if she completes a substance abuse treatment program.
