It forced the evacuation of nearby businesses and tied up traffic for hours. A beeping noise coming from a gas station trash can at the corner of Bethel & Tillotson in Muncie yesterday caused a lot of commotion. Police, fire, EMS, EMA and the bomb squad were called in only to find out the object in question was nothing more than a discarded smoke detector.
