Preliminary approval has been given to reducing speed limits on several city streets including an area of 53rd Street. The Anderson City Council has passed through two of the required three readings of the ordinance. The Herald Bulletin reports that the speed limit on 53rd Street between Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Park Road is being reduced from 45 miles per hour to 40.
