Firm to help with concert lineup

The Fishers Town Council has approved a contract to secure entertainment for the Fishers Summer Concert Series.  “RizingStar Entertainment” is scheduling the performers, which include the likes of Carl Storie.  The series runs from June 5 to July 24 at the Town Hall complex.  Admission is free to all events.

County priorities established

New Delaware County Commissioners President John Brooke outlined his goals for the next two years during Wednesday’s commissioners meeting.  He says economic development, stronger ties to Ball State University and consolidation of city-county services are among the priorities.

Woman won't serve time in overdose death

A ten-year suspended prison sentence and ten years of probation have been given to an Elwood woman for her involvement in an overdose death three years ago.  Rae-Anna Harting, 30, was charged with dealing a controlled substance.  Harting, who suffers from a degenerative spinal disease, allegedly provided part of a morphine patch to Kayla Davidson, 23, in early October of 2005.  The patch likely led to the overdose that contributed to Davidson’s death according to a pathologist.

Man accused in vicious incident during fight

A Mexican man faces charges in Madison County resulting from a New Year’s Day brawl.  Omar Jimenez, 26, allegedly bit a chunk of skin and meat from another man’s face during the fight outside the home of the victim’s sister.  The victim could suffer permanent, disfiguring injuries as a result of the incident.

Anti ag park/CAFO man appointed to commission

The Delaware County Commissioners have appointed an opponent of the Ag Bio Vision Park to the city-county planning commission.  Gary Alexander is also a critic of concentrated animal feeding operations or CAFOs.  Republican Commissioner Tom Bennington opposed the appointment, while Democrats John Brooke and Larry Bledsoe voted for it.

Freeway blocked for work

A section of I-465 that extends into Hamilton County will see restricted traffic Thursday as workers repair damage from a crash that occurred Tuesday morning.  The affected section is in the eastbound lanes between Ditch and Spring Mill roads.   The work should be completed by 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.

VP thief sought

The search continues for the thief that held up a New Castle Village Pantry store early Sunday.  Police say a white male around 5’9″ and 175 pounds held up the store at 603 Broad Street.  The incident occurred about 48 hours after a Village Pantry at 2500 Grand Avenue was also robbed.  If you have information on either case call 765-529-4890.

Commissioners' road show

Six of the two dozen Delaware County Commissioners meetings this year will be held in town halls around the county.  The first meeting “on the road’ is set for February 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Eaton Town Hall.
