New sheriff = changes

New Hancock County Sheriff Bud Gray has made several changes to the department.  He’s placed deputies and dispatchers on 12-hour shifts and has put five new people in the department’s detective division.  The department’s K-9 unit is also being revived.

Board gets new leadership

The Blackford School Board chose its officers for this year Wednesday night. John Payne was elected board president, while Phil Jones was elected vice-president, Barb Grover treasurer and Sharon Bales assistant treasurer.

Teen held in burglaries

An Elwood High School student faces charges of robbing two Madison County businesses. Jason Mundy, 19, allegedly burglarized Steel Slitting and Venus Chocolate Shop. Kids program now available

The Anderson YMCA is taking applications for the Kids Zone before and after-school programs. Applications are available at all elementary schools and the YMCA downtown. The programs take the place of efforts by the now-defunct Family Network Agency.

Blood program to change

Ball Memorial Hospital plans to close its blood bank this spring.  The Indiana Blood Center plans to open a clinic at Northwest Plaza next to Chuck E. New assessor eliminates job

New Grant County Assessor Tami Martin has eliminated the position of supervisor for the reassessment department. It just so happens that job was held by Jerry Walters, the wife of former Assessor Jay Walters, who support Martin’s opponent in the primary election.
