Washington Street parking to be eliminated

Marion officials say parking will be banned along Washington Street between 41st and 43rd streets. Cars parked in the area have created vision problems for drivers. The ban won’t take effect until construction on the west side of the Indiana Wesleyan University campus is completed. Construction workers don’t have anywhere else to park.

Commissioners reject request

The owner of Breaker’s Billiards in the White River Plaza in Muncie says Delaware County’s smoking ordinance is forcing him out of business.  Felix Lukenbill requested a variance from the county’s smoking ordinance that the commissioners rejected.

Anderson woman murdered; man held

Noblesville police have charged an Indianapolis man in an Anderson woman’s stabbing death.  Bryan Harper, 26, allegedly stabbed Carrie Kendall, a 36-year-old quadriplegic, to death during an apparent burglary designed to steal a TV set and prescription medication.  Kendall was apparently staying with friends when the incident occurred.  Harper is being held in the Hamilton […]

Water causes problems in Marion

Grant County officials are keeping an eye on the Mississinewa River following another round of heavy rains Sunday night and into Monday.  A restaurant near the Charles Mill Dam closed out of fear people’s cars would become stranded in the parking lot.  Flooding problems have also occurred at the Meshingomesia Country Club.
