Pence answers Iraq questions

More than 30 people attended a town hall meeting sponsored by 6th District Congressman Mike Pence (R-Columbus) in the Muncie City Hall auditorium Tuesday morning.  Pence spent a lot of time in the meeting defending President Bush’s planned troop buildup in Iraq.

New restaurant flying into airport soon

A deal is close to being finalized for a new restaurant at the Delaware County Airport.  Muncie Aviation is working out a deal with CEPT Incorporated of South Bend to operate a restaurant at the site of the former Vince’s.  The restaurant closed when the current operators pulled out just before New Year’s Day.

Teen heads to court

A Lawrence teen was formally charged Tuesday in a Carmel police chase that occurred Friday.  Javier Tepehua-Xique, 18, also faces charges of residential entry, burglary, resisting law enforcement and carrying a handgun without a permit.  Three teenage boys who were with him during the chase have also been charged.

Slippin' and slidin'

Area police were busy with accidents Tuesday morning as a result of the light snow and freezing conditions.  Madison County sheriff’s deputies worked eight crashes, with four resulting in injuries.  Police in Muncie and Delaware County responded to 38 crashes blamed on the weather, while Henry County deputies dealt with five crashes

Bus service going away

The Mississinewa Community Schools will no longer offer school bus rides between the Community Children’s Academy and Northview Elementary School effective February 1.  That has some parents who will be forced to transport their children themselves complaining.  School officials say they can’t risk the liability of transporting children on an overcrowded bus.
