Muncie State Senator Sue Errington will have outpatient surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis Thursday to repair an injury sustained when she was mugged outside an Indianapolis convenience store last week. Errington has a fractured cheekbone that could cause muscles to droop and nerve damage if its not repaired.
JM Corporation will keep its permit to operate the Mallard Lake Landfill without a fight from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. IDEM officials say they wont appeal a court decision restoring the landfill permit. Negotiations continue for a potential buyer for the landfill, and construction could start later this year.

The new Anderson Wal-Mart store opens Friday at 8:00 a.m. The new store is located near the current Wal-Mart on Scatterfield Road and is similar to the store opened on Muncies south side last spring.
Remy International plans to vacate the former General Motors Plant 16 in Anderson in 90 days. The Anderson Redevelopment Commission operates the plant on the citys behalf after GM donated it to the city. Officials say a new tenant will be sought once Remy moves out.
