Taking down the decorations

A couple of Marion streets will be closed the next couple of days while decorations from the Walkway of Lights are removed.  The closures include Matter Park Road from Highland Avenue to Quarry Road Wednesday and River Drive from Spencer Avenue to Cherry Street Thursday.

Special prosecutor appointed

Madison County Prosecutor Thomas Broderick Jr. filed paperwork Monday asking for a special prosecutor in the gambling case involving John Neal.  Madison Superior Court Three Judge Thomas Newman Jr. then appointed Henry County Prosecutor Kit Crane to oversee the case for the state.

No vote on trash rate increase

The Yorktown Town Council delayed taking action on a planned $2-a-month increase for trash collection.  The council decided to put the service out for bids after Town Manager Tim Kelty recommended accepting the increase from Best Way of Indiana.

Highway project up for comments

A public meeting is planned in Winchester Tuesday afternoon to discuss the State Road 32 reconstruction project east of the city.  The meeting sponsored by the Indiana Department of Transportation begins at 5 p.m. at the Winchester YMCA located at 1521 E. Washington Street.
