Employee caught stealing from Maurice's

An employee at Maurice’s clothing store was caught making fraudulent refunds to herself.  21-year-old Ashli Caudill admitted to making refunds totaling nearly one-thousand dollars in a written statement to the store’s Loss Prevention Division. Caudill says she needed the money for personal bills, but did realize she would get caught one day.

GM reports 90% profit drop from one year ago

General Motors Corporation reported a 90 percent first-quarter profit drop from one year ago. However, the net profit of $62 million for the January through March period was GM’s second straight quarterly profit.  The eleven-cents-per share was down from the $1.06 per share price one year ago, a total of $602 million in losses. 

Pence, Democrats hope to pass media shield law

Indiana Congressman Mike Pence is hopeful a media shield law will pass this year.  He says with Democrats in control of Congress, bipartisan support is widening.  Pence and Representative Rick Boucher of Virginia introduced an act yesterday to protect journalists from being forced to reveal confidential sources.

FDA orders andi-depressant labels be re-written

Antidepressant drug makers, including Eli Lilly, have been ordered to put new warnings on the most widely prescribed anti-depressants in the country. The Food and Drug Administration says labels need to be rewritten to state the use of these drugs lead to suicidal behavior in young adults.
