A man who was just elected to the Delaware County Center Township Board in November wants a new election position.  Jerry Dishman, 50, announced Monday that he will seek the Democratic nomination for the District 5 council seat currently held by Bruce Wiemer, who likely won’t seek reelection.

Chamber awards announced

The Portland Area Chamber of Commerce named Jay County High School boy’s basketball coach Craig Teagle its citizen of the year during a Saturday ceremony.  Jay County Hospital was named business of the year, G&P Custom Plating industry of the year, and Gary Hudson received a lifetime achievement award.

Woman robs drug store

Noblesville police are looking for a woman wearing a black hooded sweatshirt who robbed a CVS pharmacy early Sunday morning.  The woman entered the store, demanded drugs from the pharmacist and then fled.  The woman took OxyContin, methadone, oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Funny money reappears

Marion police are investigating new reports of counterfeit money.  At least one business in the North Park Mall received a counterfeit $100 bill over the weekend.  It’s believed the bills were actually $5 bills that had the numbers bleached out and reprinted, meaning that the special pen used to identify fake money won’t work.

Limited discussion

The Yorktown Town Council Monday approved new rules for public comments during meetings.  The rules give the council president more authority in limiting comments.  Public comments will also be allowed at the beginning of the meeting rather than at the end and all comments were limited to two minutes at the president’s discretion.
