War protest planned

The East Central Indiana Chapter of “MoveOn” will stage a protest outside the downtown Muncie office of Congressman Mike Pence (R-6th) at noon Wednesday.  The group opposes an escalation of the Iraq war.  The group will deliver letters against the war to Pence’s office during the demonstration.

Blaze wrecks under-construction house

A home under construction in the West Clay subdivision in Carmel burned to the ground Monday, causing about $200,000 in damage.  The blaze in the 2100 block of Finchley Road was reported around 5:20 a.m.  There’s speculation space heaters could’ve led to the fire.

The Madison County court hearing for a Muncie man accused with crimes against children was postponed Monday.  The hearing for Elzie Harty, 26, is now planned for 8:30 Thursday morning.  Harty is accused with having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old girl at the Anderson Center from April of 2005 to April of last year.

SUV slams into trees; driver slightly injured
