Brooke elected Delaware County Commissioners president

A good year for the library

The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is enjoying a record year in 2006.  The library checked over one million items.  It’s the first time that’s ever happened.  The one millionth item was checked out last Wednesday.

Leadership changes at fire department

The Delaware County Center Township Fire Department has new leadership as Marilyn Kay Walker takes over as trustee from Dick Shirey.  Retired Muncie Fire Department Battalion Chief Tommy Crawford takes over from Jeff Stigall.  Stigall’s wife Pam was also fired as Emergency Medical Services director and Assistant Fire Chief Paul Reeder was also terminated.

Mowery not going anywhere

Grant County’s outgoing clerk will stay employed in the clerk’s office.  Carolyn Mowery has been named chief deputy clerk by new County Clerk Mark Florence, whose retirement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department took effect last Friday.

Christmas tree collection planned

Yorktown officials are reminding residents that live Christmas trees will be picked up for disposal Wednesday, January 3.  Trees should be placed by the curbside.  If you can’t meet tomorrow’s deadline but still need a tree removed call 759-4003 for an appointment.

Salary hikes coming for deputy prosecutors

The Hamilton County Council has approved pay raises for deputy prosecutors.  Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp requested tiered scale based on their duties.  Prosecutors that handle misdemeanors to class D felonies will get just over $44,000 a year.  Entry-level prosecutors that handle felonies only will get over $54,000 while the entry level salaries for supervising deputy prosecutors […]

Pair held in burglary
