The Grant County Commissioners and Sheriff Darrell Himelick have agreed to hire Indianapolis attorney Michael Morrow. He will help the county deal with a lawsuit about overcrowding in the Grant County Jail.

Broin Companies has pulled plans to locate an ethanol plant near Bluffton in Wells County. Officials cite increased competition in Indiana and will concentrate on other areas. Broin is also planning or building ethanol plants near Portland in Jay County and Alexandria in Madison County.
The Muncie City Council has given preliminary approval to two annexation plans. The plans included phased-in property taxes for residents of the Saddlebrook addition along Morrison Road and an area near Perdieu and Cornbread roads. Final council action could come next month.
