A February 1st trial date has been set for a former Jay County sheriff’s deputy charged with murder. 35 year old Roger Boyd is charged with shooting and killing 49 year old James Miller at Boyd’s South Bridge Street home on Sept. 4. Boyd found the victim in his garage and told authorities that’s when he shot him. He claimed Miller was armed but there was no evidence found of that.
