ISTEP A Fiasco

Parents still don’t know how their kids did on the new ISTEP test, but local school leaders who’ve seen the grades say the test is a fiasco. A number of local superintendents are telling their local papers the test is flawed and has forced many kids to fail. In Anderson County, Superintendent Terry Thompson says it’s “an example of Indiana’s failed system.” According a Herald Bulletin report Math scores are down 25.9 percent; passing test scores are down by 24 percent, and in language arts scores are down 19 percent. The state has postponed unveiling the test results because of problems with grading.
