Marion Man Dies in Crash into Building

A Marion man is dead after he crashed his van into an apartment building at 1020 W. Delphi Pike at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.  Marion Police Officer Kyle Young said two witnesses were standing on the porch of their apartment building, when they saw a van coming toward them at a high-rate of speed. They said they heard a horn honk two or three times, Young said. The van then jumped the curb, went up onto the grass and struck the concrete porch of the apartment building. The building sits where Third Street jogs right and becomes Delphi Pike before becoming Second Street.  The driver of the van, Gregory W. Gadd, was taken to Marion General Hospital by ambulance and was later transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m.
