Marion to Take Part in "Night Out"

After a seven-year absence, Marion will once again join in the annual National Night Out. The night is designed to strengthen neighborhood and police partnerships. Block parties will be throughout Marion to show support for officials who fight crime in Marion, said Ken Hussong, event planner. The parties are also for people to get to know their neighbors. Hussong said he’s looking forward to Tuesday’s block parties and hopes Marion residents turn on their porch and patio lights for the event. This is the 24th year for the national event, but Marion joined in the mid-1990s. The program was cut in 2000 because of lack of funding.
